Under the direction of the Manager of Technical Training Unit, this position is responsible for training application documentation and workflow development for Altamed’s core clinical system environments including but not limited to Ambulatory Electronic Health Records (EHR), Enterprise Practice Management (EPM), Electronic Dental Record (EDR), AltaMed Net, CRM, ININ, etc.. The position is responsible for producing and maintaining high quality end-user training material content and workflows for training the company on new or updated core software products targeting a variety of audiences (Medical Assistants, Nurses, Physicians, Dentists, etc...). Projects will support adult learning, include online learning modules, live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training guides, and supporting materials following an instructional design process.





  1. The HITT, Instructional Designer works closely with the Sr HITT, Instructional Designer to develop training material, training content and workflows.
  2. Responsible for assisting in the creation the documentation for training related to Altamed’s core clinical systems with precision and accuracy in a presentation format that includes system screen shots and workflow analysis for training.
  3. Responsible for maintenance of company training documents including but not limited to storage, cataloging, security, revision, integrity and destruction of obsolete documents..
  4. Prepares training lesson plans/modules, manuals and materials such as educational films, PowerPoint presentations and/or visual aids.
  5. Prepares training based on adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles.
  6. Develops, implements, and modifies existing training curriculum, content, materials, job aids, and document management tools to meet learning needs. .
  7. Partners with HIT Training Specialists, Sr HITT Instructional Designer, Education and Training, Patient Access and Clinical Informatics to identify training gaps and develop training best practices.
  8. Partner with the Project Management Office as needed to be a project resource for the creation, delivery and management of systems documentation for clinical system upgrades and releases.
  9. Maintain a working knowledge of the clinical system applications and how they are used in daily operations.
  10. Develops high-quality training material for traditional classroom, online classroom, paper based curricula, self-paced e-Learning modules or a blend of approaches.
  11. Training methodologies may include group lecture, role play, simulation exercises, self-study, on-the-job training, computer-based training, etc.
  12. Works with Sr HITT Instructional Designer to develop more sophisticated e-Learning programs and applications.
  13. Reviews program evaluations, test results, and participant and manager feedback on training effectiveness to make recommendations for program improvement.
  14. Provide solutions that allow for just-in-time learning, support blended learning, and encourage learning for all AltaMed.
  15. Reviews program evaluations, test results, and participant and manager feedback on training effectiveness to make recommendations to Sr HITT Instructional Design for program improvement.
  16. Facilitate instructor-led, participant-centered training, as needed.
  17. Provide excellent customer service at all times to internal and external customers.
  18. Coordinates announcements, meeting agendas and reminders to management and Training Specialists as needed.
  19. Partners with Leadership and/or Senior Trainer to create and maintain training calendar.
  20. Perform other related duties as assigned.


  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred coupled with a minimum of 2 years of proven experience in instructional design or corporate learning development.
  2. Previous EHR and CRM application experience highly desirable.
  3. Intermediate level experience with technology suites such as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, etc.)
