Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, this position is primarily responsible for researching and drafting communications for newsletters, corporate website and AltaMed’s intranet as well as other corporate-wide communications and brand maintenance and public affairs related projects. Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures, monitoring company media and utilizing electronic publishing technology. Effective coordination of all job activities, assertiveness, confidentiality and diplomacy are requirements for the job. Serves as the liaison between Department and internal and external customers and supports the department with administrative support. This position will support the implementation of the public relations efforts through traditional and new media for the organization to position AltaMed in the community and in the health care industry.





  1. Research, gather content, write, review, edit and produce communications for internal vehicles including company-wide e-newsletter and the corporate intranet and corporate internet site and produce monthly usage report of internet.
  2. Supports team in executing communications, community relations programs, town halls and events by writing, coordinating logistics, technology (including database use and management), presentations, as well as managing volunteers, publicity, materials and external vendor resources.
  3. Compose memos, transcribes notes, and researches and creates presentations.
  4. Create strategic communication plans and measure communication effectiveness, gather feedback, report findings and conclusions and prepare action plans.
  5. Supports organizational public relations activities by coordinating interviews at events or ad hoc media requests on site.
  6. Manages digital communications strategies including digit, web, and social media.
  7. Supports corporate brand identity program by assisting with brand maintenance duties including issuing guidance to internal and external users about proper adherence to brand standards, communicating policies and procedures and assisting with proper application and adherence.
  8. Serve as a proofreader/editor for materials.
  9. Provide all departmental administrative duties.
  10. Serve as a liaison for internal and external inquiries, communications, events, etc. including fulfilling requests for sponsorships, ads, pictures, bios, guest counts, etc.
  11. Revises procedures or new forms to improve efficiency and work flow.
  12. Maintains strict confidentiality.
  13. Assist in preparation of the annual departmental budget.
  14. Coordinates with other departments the preparation for press conferences, special meetings, and events.
  15. Perform all other related duties as assigned.


  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent coupled with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the public relations or related field required.
  2. Experience in a not for profit service organization highly desirable.
  3. Meeting and or event planning skills a plus.
