Under general direction of the Director of Physical Plant Management, the Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of all physical facilities of business, health care clinics, dental, and senior care programs. Provides supervision to Environmental Aides in functional areas. Monitors and performs housekeeping/janitorial/custodial activities. Establishes work schedules and prioritizes activities of staff and ensures work is completed as directed. Trains and educates employees to help Environmental Aides improve processes, become more efficient and to better meet customer needs. Performs annual evaluations to staff. Review supply levels, documents items needed on a monthly basis, and orders supplies per par levels established. Performs management duties such as hiring, disciplinary actions, incidents reports, and payroll. Must be able to drive company vehicle to each site and conduct interactions with everyone in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner. Ensures compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and licensure in a business and healthcare industry.



  1. Serves as leader facilities worker, including establishing work schedules, prioritizing and assigning work, determining loads, trains staff in work procedures, inspecting work of assigned staff, and assisting staff on computer software.
  2. Performs semi-skilled maintenance activities including basic electrical, plumbing, ceiling tile replacement, and carpentry work.
  3. Inspects facilities and generates work orders for necessary repairs to ensure that property is kept in good operating condition; checks for completion of vendor work and ensures quality and safety of the work performed.
  4. Prepares reports of inspections and labor and material estimates to apprise supervisor of condition of facilities, equipment and materials needed for repairs.
  5. Inspects the work of Environmental Aide staff and contractors to ensure that work meets specifications and standards; inspects facilities and grounds to ensure a properly maintained and safe environment.
  6. Inventories and may order supplies, equipment and materials for projects, including determining appropriate supplies and materials and locating vendor suppliers; may provider input into budget requests in areas of assignment.
  7. Provides direction, guidance, and instruction to staff in the correct operation of equipment and the proper use and hazards of chemical materials.
  8. Performs training on safety issues ensuring staff are following safe working practices and standard operating procedures.
  9. Prepares agenda, documents, and powerpoint presentation for department meetings.
  10. Gathers information to provide recommendations on requested improvements and modifications to facilities including cost estimates, designs, scope of work, and timing.
  11. Provides training and one on one instruction to staff in order to increase ability and capacity.
  12. Assists in the tracking of expenditures on projects and maintains records of work performed and materials used.
  13. Writes performance appraisals.
  14. Works closely with program administration and corporate facility management in order to ensure budgetary goals and schedules are met.
  15. Ensures staff follows bio-hazardous waste regulations per CDPH MWMP (Medical Waste Management Program) (delivery, handling, distribution, collection and disposal. Maintains Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for Business, Clinics, Dental, and PACE, reporting to corporate as appropriate and per policy.
  16. Monitors related contracts, leases and financial arrangements for compliance with terms and conditions; ensures that contracts integrate with stated department goals; resolves contract disputes.
  17. Ensures compliance with all health code, JCAHO, CMS, CDC, APIC, and CAL OSHA workplace safety requirements at for Business, Clinics, Dental, and PACE Sites.
  18. Identifies safety concerns and implements preventative procedures. Develops facility safety policies and procedures and takes corrective action for safety violations.
  19. Facilitates the periodic inspection for compliance with all safety, regulatory and operating policy requirements.
  20. Implements department emergency action plans and policies and works with the Safety Officer to conduct emergency drills and emergency response training.
  21. Completes required AltaMed on-line training courses in a timely manner. Performs required data entry to AltaMed management programs i.e. LEM, Cornerstone, ADP, eProcure, etc.



  1. Possession of a high school diploma and five (5) years of commercial/institutional experience in building maintenance functions (e.g. electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, etc.).
  2. 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience.
  3. Certificate DOT Training for Signing Waste Manifest 40 CFR 172 Subpart H is desirable or obtains within 30 days of employment.
  4. Certificate Assault Behavior Training Course is desirable or obtains within 90 days of employment.
  5. License Requirement & Agency: Class "C" Driver License with "0" points preferred. Maximum allowable points = 1 point.
