    The Civic Engagement Coordinator will develop program content and implement the companywide Civic Engagement Initiatives. This position requires the knowledge and background to grow an informed base of supporters who can be engaged to sustain AltaMeds’s civic engagement programs and advocacy activities. The Coordinator will lead the implementation of activities, such as conducting outreach, education, voter registration, and get out the vote (GOTV) canvassing activities. The Coordinator will also identify, establish, and maintain strategic community partnerships with the shared goals of engaging and mobilizing underserved communities to participate civically. The Coordinator must be able to work independently as well as interdependently with the Government Relations team to advance our mission, goals, and objectives for this initiative.


    1. Develop Program content i.e. videos, messaging, awareness correspondence; includes implementation of the civic engagement initiatives, including external and internal outreach, voter registration, non-partisan voter education, GOTV/voter mobilization efforts, community town halls/convening’s, and field/data tracking and reporting.
    2. Work closely with community partner organizations to plan, implement and support civic engagement strategies; and implementation of base-building strategies in conjunction with Health and Wellness, Business Development, and other departments as needed.
    3. Provides daily support for all AltaMed’s program activities including volunteer outreach, recruitment, training, materials development, and event coordination.
    4. Develop database of employees, patients and community members for outreach, education, mobilization efforts i.e. Nation Builder Site (My Vote My Health.org).
    5. Collect and maintain effective data for AltaMed’s civic engagement initiative reporting.
    6. Assist in expanding AltaMed’s year-round base-building efforts with employees, patients and community partners.
    7. Assist in training, recruiting and supervising interns and volunteers.
    8. Support the development and implementation of the AltaMed Community Advocate Leadership Academy, and Naturalization Program.
    9. Additional duties as assigned.


    1. Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience related to Civic Engagement, Community Outreach, Education and Planning.
    2. 2 years' experience with civic and voter engagement (i.e. voter outreach and education, GOTV); including experience in leading, planning and representing community activities.
    3. Must have demonstrated ability to work with elected officials, and understanding of social determinants of health.
    4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with database program development and administration.
    5. Flexibility with work schedule, may be required to work evenings and weekends.
    6. Must be able to commute to various areas within Southern California Counties and hold a California Drivers' License, and have own vehicle and vehicle insurance.
