    Under the direction of the Manager of the Technical Training Unit (TTU), The Health Information Technology Trainer II is responsible for training end users on AltaMed technical/clinical systems and applications, included but not limited to Ambulatory Electronic Health Records (EMR), Managed Care Referral System, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Interactive Intelligence (ININ), and other technical systems. This position is responsible for the validation and training of workflows for AltaMed staff on new or updated core software products targeting a variety of audiences (Medical Assistants, Nurses, Physicians, Dentists, etc. for Medical and Dental Front/Back Office, Health Information Management, Contact Center and corporate business units.) Trainers will be responsible for training staff and creating training materials including but not limited to: Instructor guides, practice books, user guides, PowerPoints, training environment, and additional supplemental materials. During any clinical system implementation, this position will also be responsible for completing assigned tasks within the implementation project scope.

    1. Assist in the development and maintenance of education tools relating to system updates and various organizational initiatives
    2. Assist in developing, modifying, and validating curriculum, content, materials, and training environment to meet the needs of end users
    3. Deliver appropriate level of instruction and evaluations for each user
    4. Develop and deliver communication to targeted audiences regarding basic EMR system changes
    5. Collaborate with other trainers, educators, Informaticists, Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure delivery of effective and accurate training to impacted users
    6. Understand various workflows affecting each unique clinic model
    7. Actively participate in organizational projects, implementations and initiatives
    8. Identify clinical system training needs and support for providers and staff as well as mentor new providers and staff on the system.
    9. Identify problems and issues with the clinical system applications that affect the delivery of care and report issues as identified to the Information Service (IS) helpdesk.
    10. Educate and coach medical providers and staff on clinical system application processes and provide relevant clinical system application tips to improve efficiency.
    11. Works with the Technical Training Specialists team and end-user’s supervisor to ensure that new staff meets minimum clinical system application mastery within 3 months of hire by providing timely feedback of the end-user’s competency level of understanding of clinical system application processes and workflows.
    12. Reviews all clinical system application workflows and suggests changes as needed.
    13. Develops AltaMed-specific training materials for group training sessions (PowerPoint, handouts, Windows Media) for system applications.
    14. Provides end-user follow up assistance and support as planned and escalates to Technical Training Manager as necessary.
    15. Provides end- user’s supervisor with timely feedback about end-user’s clinical system application knowledge, competency and skill.
    16. Conducts follow-up end-user trainings, one-on-one or group as needed.
    17. Provides on-site "live-day" support and end-user assistance for application sites.
    18. Hosts end-user clinical systems training, super-user training (train the trainer), and user acceptance training.
    19. Provides front-end support with end-users to ensure that functionality of the clinical system is being optimized.
    20. Acts as a clinical system "champion", conveying the positive impact of the project on our staff and patients.

    Other Job Duties:

       21. Serves as a liaison with Clinical Informatics and IS Department to address technical support issues and questions as it relates to

             training of clinical systems and provides feedback on clinical template design as needed.

       22. Assesses end-user system proficiency and partners with Health Information Technical Training Instructional Designers to develop

             and update evaluation tools based on teamfeedback for subject retention and ROI analysis.

       23. Continuously assesses training needs to increase job proficiency and/or improve team work and daily operations.

       24. Collects "service level" data on how long it takes to teach providers and staff to perform clinical system application

             processes/workflows.

       25. Assists in the development of plans to monitor data and quality post go-live, collaborate with administrators and clinicians to

             achieve data quality goals.

       26. Partners with Technical Training Manager and/or Training Coordinator to create and maintain training calendar.

       27. Assists Technical Training Manager with organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling training classes and work assignments

       28. Supports other Health Information Technical Training Specialists as needed with training classes and projects.

       29. Serves as a resource for the Technical Training team, and leads by example.

       30. Performs other related duties asassigned.

     

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or information technology or equivalent work experience
    2. Minimum of 5 years of technical training experience with EMR system and adult training principles required
    3. EPIC Certification required.
    4. Minimum of (5) years of working in a specialized healthcare field or supporting clinical information systems. LVN/Medical Assistant experience in ambulatory setting preferred
    5. Experience providing EMR system support to clinical staff, including providers, nurses, MAs, etc. required.
    6. Experience in creating, designing, and writing training materials preferred.
    7. Intermediate proficiency with Windows based application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project as well as SharePoint)
    8. Working knowledge of meaningful use and regulatory compliance incentive programs preferred such as (Provide examples).
    9. Informatics certifications or credentialing is a plus
    10. Actively participate in organizational projects, implementations and initiatives
