  • Overview

    Under the guidance of the Manager of Workforce Development, the Supervisor of College Pipelines will lead the development of specialized workforce pipeline programs and sustain current pipeline programs that prepare underrepresented and diverse students for employment in the healthcare and STEM workforce. The Supervisor of College Pipelines will operate programs to achieve reduction in barriers to admission and retention in post-secondary academic programs to achieve job preparedness and successful transition to meaningful employment. The Supervisor will oversee day-to-day staff, intern, and site supervisor engagement activities, ensuring compliance. The Supervisor will implement data collection and reporting, and maintain tracking and evaluation of student interns. The Supervisor is responsible to recruit & retain pre-health professions student interns including but not limited to AltaMed Health Fellows and AmeriCorps Members and will be responsible for providing job preparedness and job placement support. The Supervisor will provide efficient, compliant customer service-oriented programs.

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Leads day-to-day management of all college pipeline programs, serving as the lead liaison to develop and sustain career transition experiential opportunities for pre-health professions interns to achieve job preparedness and successful transition to meaningful employment
    2. Leads day-to-day staff and intern coordination and engagement activities. Ensure service levels are established and achieved according to AltaMed’s values.
    3. Oversees and manages staff performance, including hiring, selection, development, and engagement.
    4. Oversee site supervisor recruitment, site assignments and scheduling and acknowledgement of site supervisor responsibilities.
    5. Collaborates with departments to understand their intern and employment needs. Assist in coordinating and executing the fulfilment of those needs, including coordination of job placement.
    6. Manage and nurture relationships with placement site supervisors and interns.
    7. Manages the coordination of placements ensuring effective communication, compliance and an excellent learning experience.
    8. Performs non-clinical supervision of the students on placement including but not limited to time and attendance, professionalism and behavior.
    9. In partnership with Talent Management, Manager, and peers, implements evidence-based internship curriculums for students in health related fields that align with the Strategic Workforce Plan and prepare students for careers at AltaMed.
    10. Works with the Workforce Development Manager, Development and Grants Management to provide fiscal and compliance required data and reports that support funding opportunities and budget development for pipeline programs, and demonstrate a return on investment.
    11. Prepares monthly productivity reports for the Manager and supports the development of expansion plans. Implements data collection and reporting, and maintains tracking and evaluation.
    12. Participates in program audits and site visits and ensures compliance with Department of Labor and all applicable laws, policies and guidelines. Includes coordination of audit preparation and development of performance enhancement plans and corrective action plans.
    13. Evaluates and assesses programs and ensures that productivity meets program standards, making adjustments as necessary.
    14. Manages the delivery of accurate, timely, and responsive customer services.
    15. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university program in Business Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, School Counseling, Social Work, Nursing, or other related health or social science field required.
    2. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an educational, health or social services setting.
    3. Minimum of 3 years of experience with workforce development, career development, or student recruiting programs with diverse, underrepresented student populations with an emphasis on graduate programs and/or medical school. Experience working with students with a variety of academic interests and abilities.
    4. Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
