    The Director of HIV Services leads the HIV Services division in managing and supporting the assessment and program delivery based on the patient needs. Overall administration of more than 25 grants within LA and Orange Counties as well as meeting contractual requirements aligning with AltaMed’s mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan. Responsible for developing, monitoring, and implementation of a Quality Improvement program responsible for core service functions under the direction of the AVP, Regional Clinic Administration and collaboration with the Medical Director of HIV Services. Works cohesively with Clinic Operations to ensure smooth administration of HIV Services delivery and interdepartmental referrals. Responsible for Clinic Operations for HIV and Infectious Disease specialty clinics directly responsible for oversight of front office, back office, HIV service clinic operations, and prevention programs. Other core functions include provision of mental health services, homecare services, and case management, which will report directly to this position. Responsible for managing and providing overall leadership, direction and development for HIV/AIDS prevention programming & HIV-related health services responsible for direct planning in the day-to-day operations of each function. Responsibilities include the collaboration with the communications department on HIV Services’ marketing and social media strategy. This position has an HIV Services focus responsible for designing and developing new programs as well as actively advocating for legislative changes for those with HIV as well as develops, maintain and expand collaborative efforts with multiple community agencies that provide these services. In addition, the Director will support pharmacy integration within AltaMed. Oversight of managed care and grant budgeting and implementation.



    1. Leads and establishes the seamless integration of programs to assure family-centered, coordinated services, among the HIV/AIDS programs.
    2. Develops and articulates the vision and strategic direction for programs; collaborate on the implementation of strategies, and exercises leadership responsibility over the planning and delivery of Services.
    3. Organizes and oversees the quality improvement and policy and procedures committee for all areas of responsibility.
    4. Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and services; advises the VP of Operations, Assistant Vice President of Regional Clinic Administration and Chief Operating Officer concerning implications of decisions and impact on the quality of patient care and on provider practices.
    5. Trains, monitors and evaluates performance of each direct report, according to the company’s policies and procedures. Makes recommendations for program and staff changes and improvements.
    6. Reviews all required contractual reports to identify progress or improvement issues.
    7. Conducts regular staff meetings with program staff ensuring communication of program goals and objectives in conjunction with AltaMed’s strategic plan.
    8. Provides oversight for completion of a community needs assessment and works towards tailoring the programs to address the needs identified.
    9. Maintains effective relations with all contractual partners.
    10. Monitors patient satisfaction for all programs and services and oversees improvement plan. Demonstrates high patient satisfaction.
    11. Responsible for developing and implementing a marketing strategy for programs.
    12. Organizes and monitors the fiscal components for the HIV Services’ programs; develops budgets that meet total operations expenditures and maintains fiscal compliance.
    13. Prepares all budgets, review all contractually required (quarterly, semi-annual, annual) reports.
    14. Assists and collaborates with local and State service providers participating in local networks, attending community meetings and representing the programs, to better integrate systems or services that support our programs.
    15. Leads in the identification of HIV/AIDS health care issues, promoting health care utilization.
    16. Attends and participates in State and local meetings, conferences, etc.


    1. Master’s Degree from an accredited college of university program in social work (MSW, LCSW), public health, Health Administration, Nursing (RN), or other related health or social science field required.
    2. Minimum of ten (10) years of public health experience required with 8 years in managerial and/or supervisory experience in a health or social services setting, half of which are in the area of health promotion and education services.
    3. Must have working experience with government and private sector entities and prior experience managing grants and contracts.
