  • Overview

    This position will be responsible for providing regular pick-up and drop-off services for the Transportation Department. This includes all special assistance needed by PACE participants and marketing clients requiring Non-CDL transportation services to/from home to senior care facilities as well as to/from specialty appointments.



    1. Transport and provide special assistance to all participants requiring transportation service as required by PACE program.
    2. Ability to safely operate non-DOT regulated vehicles for participant appointments and/or marketing clients.
    3. Must pass departmental driver safety and on-road training, prior to transporting participants.
    4. Assist each passenger to assure safe entry and seating, provide pick-up services when authorized by management; provide curb to curb services; provide fastening of safety belts on both ambulatory and wheelchair passengers. Provide standby assistance for all passengers coded as stand-by, or at risk of falls as determined by the Program.
    5. Provide additional support to clients requiring additional special attention due to their physical and/or cognitive disabilities (i.e. hard of hearing, visually impaired, dementia, etc.).
    6. Ensure proper use of wheelchair tie downs; demonstrate proper usage of body mechanics for wheelchair transfers.
    7. Execute defensive driving techniques, showing good judgment and extending road courtesy to others.
    8. Maintain all medication delivery slips, “Not at Home” notices, etc.,
    9. Perform full morning and evening vehicle inspections and complete all required documentation as required by the company; this includes reporting all safety hazards and utilizing a back-up vehicle as assigned.
    10. Responsible for maintaining, supporting and promoting a safe work environment, while complying with all safety rules, and polices and procedures.
    11. Perform other related duties as assigned.



    1. A Class C driver’s license required, with no points (preferred).
    2. Minimum two years driving experience required and one year experience working with frail and/or elderly population.
    3. Ability to obtain and maintain LA DOT city permit as required.
    4. Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
