Preforms duties of those of Payroll Coordinator I and II, but distinguished in that Payroll Coordinator III is assigned more technical responsibilities including but not limited to payroll system configuration, implementation, and imports. Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, and distribution of payroll via the payroll system. Acts as liaison between payroll department and data processing vendors, Information Systems department, HRIS department, and other external departments. Works with payroll team to identify system revision needs, communicate system requirement, maintain system processes, and provides system guidance. Have solid knowledge of payroll, time keeping, and reporting system functionality. Researches and analyzes system processes and resolves difficult problems presented by other employees, colleague, management, or outside representative. Strong knowledge in areas of payroll including compliancy with Federal and State agencies and enable them to be a resource to payroll team. Assist Payroll Supervisor with projects and is a back-up in the technical areas of processing payroll such as eTime import and EV5 transmission. Makes independent judgments within established limits and have some lead responsibilities



    1. Follow HR/Payroll policy and procedures.
    2. Process payroll in accordance with established wage and hour regulations and in compliance with legislative agencies such as but not limited to IRS, EDD, FLSA and DOL.
    3. Perform all duties of Payroll Coordinator I and II pertaining to the payroll process, including but not limited to eTime monitoring of time records, balance EV5 batches, creating and maintaining manual checks, perform all pay data audits, allocations, etc.
    4. Maintains knowledge of the payroll wage and hour, changes in tax laws, and operational changes to develop a trusted relationship with our employees and management.
    5. Develops, initiates, and analyzes payroll procedures, and workflow to maintain and improve effectiveness and efficiency
    6. Audit, troubleshoot, and resolve employee data discrepancies including difficult technical problems within reasonable amount of time.
    7. Facilitates the implementation of new technology tools, system configuration, functionality, user testing, and training modules and procedures.
    8. Upkeep the production of compliance reporting such as ACA reporting of hours worked, DOL Multi worksite quarterly reporting, and monthly EDD Labor Statistics data
    9. Participates in the development operating procedures and processes related to payroll
    10. Provide payroll reports for HR, Operations, Accounting or other departments as requested
    11. Attends various meetings, as designated, to represent the Finance on matters affecting payroll matters or in collaboration with external teams.
    12. Train new employees and staff on payroll process and system functions
    13. Reconcile and remit employee/employer retirement plan contributions and loan portions.
    14. Responsible for preparing and coordinating documents for various audits.
    15. Monitor quarterly wage and tax reports and assist with year-end processing and amendments.
    16. Transmit Regular Payroll and special runs, loading pay files and set-up for next payroll cycle.
    17. Assist payroll team with troubleshooting payroll systems and complex problems and issues relating to payroll.
    18. Collaborate, develop, and maintain payroll policies & procedures and payroll training material.
    19. Responsible for prioritizing workload, time management and ensure to consistently meet payroll transmission deadline.
    20. Performs other duties as assigned by Payroll Manager and Finance leaders.


    1. Associate’s degree or CPP preferred or a
    2. Minimum of five years of Payroll, Wage and Hour, and Tax laws in the State of California is required
