  • Overview

    The Special Events Manager will produce events from conception through completion. They will provide outstanding customer service and organize memorable events that meet company goals. S/he must be able to work well within time limits to plan, resource, and oversee events. Excellent people skills are a must as s/he will be working with clients and across functional groups to ensure company and client satisfaction. The abilities to multitask and prioritize are essential, as this role involves details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material etc.

     

    Responsibilities

    1. Manage all aspects of events: logistics, booth/space needs, design, signage, staff, collateral, vendors, shipments, signage, invoices, schedules, branding and timelines, etc.
    2. Work with 3rd-party vendors across key areas of assigned events; provide communications, manage onsite event registration, interface with employees and clients at events, etc.
    3. Management of all project elements within time limits and on budget.
    4. Negotiating contracts.
    5. Providing clear, well-written periodic reports to stakeholders.
    6. Management and organizational skills needed to oversee and manage all event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc.
    7. Commitment to compliance with all insurance, legal, health, and safety obligations.
    8. Collaborative team work with Communications, Development, Branding, and Marketing in the planning, design, and production of events.
    9. Proactive approach to handling issues and troubleshooting any emerging problems on the day of event.
    10. Follow through and willingness to conduct pre & post event evaluations, and reporting on the outcomes.
    11. Research skills to identify event opportunities, understand the market, and generate interest.

    Qualifications

    1. Four-year college degree in Events Management or related field or equivalent experience.
    2. A minimum of 5 years progressive experience as an events planner or organizer in a large or mid-level service company with 3000+ employees
    3. Impressive references and portfolio of previously managed corporate events.
